I just did a google search on their website for some other stuff and every single result had the malware notice. Maybe google got hacked and they're the malware today.

I got those the other night. There's a fake alert virus that gets you into a supposed antivirus site. Then it tries to get you to buy protection from it for $49.95. We had to run an adaware program to get rid of it.

pretty sneaky.... all 3 of my browsers showed the same thing... so I was pretty sure it was not my computer.... my fear was that the somthing was picked up in the Ovation Fan Club site that triggered the warning out of Google.

You have malware on your computer. Get and install both Super AntiSpyware and Spybot Search & Destroy , and then run deep scans with each.

I was doing a little Super Bowl research. OK, it was on the story about the Lingerie Bowl. I made the mistake of clicking on one of the comments. Should have known better.

Relax, everyone. It was a problem with Google, not your browser.
They've fixed it.

Mark, the problem you were having was malware. This is just beta testing on the general world population.

Doesn't anyone else ever use a search engine besides Google?

Don't get too haughty there, John. Macs have their share. Roughly equivalent to their market share.

Plenty of Mac-targeting viruses/malware out there , and many Mac users' complacency/false sense of security makes them especially vulnerable. There's just so many fewer Mac OS users w/r/t Win OS (both personal and enterprise) that a) virus writers don't bother, and b) an outbreak doesn't make the news since it doesn't affect as many people/businesses.

This isn't meant as a derision of Mac, just a warning not to get complacent about computer security, regardless of the OS you use.

If you use a Mac... Like I do... and haven't used antivirus or spy/malware...I'd bet you're infected.

Our firewall vendor, WatchGuard, sends us regular alerts and notices of updates. At least 25% of them are related to Mac OS or Mac apps.

Poor chick down the hall from me caught that...
She clicked the link, now she cannot get it outta her computer!
I guess that they want $50 for her to get her computer back.
I cannot even do a system restore for her.

DO NOT OPEN ANYTHING THAT YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT IT IS!

Yup, someone at work opened that one. We had to reformat her hard drive and reload Windoz.
You'd think Controllers would have more sense...

Not true, Art. There's lots of great FREE software out there. (It's the stuff that tries to install itself without you asking for it that you gotta watch out for...)

I got suspicious when a window that looked like it came from Microsoft popped up with a warning that said "you" computer instead of "your". I figured Microsoft spelled better than that.

Yeah Wabbit, after I typed that I realized it was untrue but I couldn't go back and reword it.
I just wanted to reinforce the warning.

I should have worded it differently... Like "TANSTAAFL" :p
