I've been delving into some Beatle history.
Has anyone heard if the "Let It Be" movie will ever be released on DVD??

Good News and Bad News...
Mostly bad.
Amazon has it for $35 or so, but I ain't so sure...

Read the "pan" and the first one-star review, then read the others, then decide.

It's a sad picture of raging egos, selfishness and desperation destroying the best group ever. I saw it in the theater for the short time it was out. It's one of those movies that I'm glad I saw, but I don't wanna see it again. Of course I could say the same for A Hard Days Night, Help and Magical Mystery Tour, though they're not nearly so depressing (well, maybe MMT). Great musicians, not great movie stars. The only Beatles movie, IMO, that bears repeat viewing is Yellow Submarine and they're not in it (except for an outro), just their music and actors playing them.

A few years ago, my kids loved to watch Help. It's the kind of humor that appeals to preteens (and some grown men ;) )

I have to admit, Help and HDN are two of my all-time favorite movies. Of course they're silly, and play on the Beatles popularity, but they're fun. Richard Lester's direction in both is great. I've always felt the scripts (and the unscripted dialog) captured their personalities so well.
Let It Be is depressing, MMT is ridiculous, Yellow Submarine is unique. Help and HDN are entertaining.

Dave, probably shouldn't be posting links to illegal downloads in the public forum.....specially since it also lists a bit of porn.

Depends what you take out of Let It Be.

I find it to be an interesting look at the times and the creative process is also interesting with respect to how the songs develop from rough approximations which are worked up to the final version.

There's a ton of Beatles stuff on Netflix.

I have no idea what any of it is, and don't care to read the descriptions. Just search "Beatles" on netflix to find it all.

I checked Netflix, and since Let It Be won an oscar, I'm kinda surprised it's not there.

Belive it or not I saw it in the theatre I believe. It was a long time ago. Kind of a sleeper if I remember. I think it can be found on ebay:

A really good movie representing the early days of the Beatles is Backbeat. I enjoyed seeing what the early venues would have been like and the energy of the shows.
