2 quick questions for anyone:

What kind of wood is that epaulet made of?

Is there such a thing as an OEM koa epaulet?

The O website sez that epaulet is Flame Maple...

As for OEM Koa epaulets, I'd ask Woody.

That's just a jaw-droppingly, head-swimmingly, tongue-lollingly, eye-poppingly, pulse-quickeningly, heart-racingly, goosebump-bringingly, knee-weakeningly, day-brighteningly, dream-sweeteningly beautiful, lovely, pretty, pretty, pretty piece of heaven of a guitar!

Bet it plays nice.

Don't hold back your feelings Alan. Just tell it like it is, Dweez is a big boy. I'm sure he can take it. :p

Scooter,

I believe that is flamed maple on the '06. The 2007 had a "spalted maple" epi, and I know that other solid wood epis have been made.

If you want any custom wood stuff for Ovations, definitely ask MWoody.

AlanM,

I thought that too, had to have one. And yes it plays like a dream, slick & low action with a lovely full, warm woody tone. The glossy lowish profile ebony fretboarded neck is gorgeous.

And when it opens up, woah...

Dweez, if you got that one from slydog, it used to be mine. I bought it off Stuart and he bought it new. Beautiful guitar, and it sounds good too.

Yes I did!

So I'm the 4th daddy but it is pristine condition and gets loved and played.

Yup, another one that I let slip away. It started out in Georga, went to Florida west coast, then to Florida east coast, and now to England. Lot of miles on that one, and still a beauty!

I believe it...just perfect for my style! Gotta lean on dweezil to sell it...not that I could afford to buy it, but just the thought...

Didn't want to be over the top or anything. Would be unseemly and gauche...and I hate to exaggerate. I mean, I HATE it! More than anything in all the UNIVERSES I hate to exaggerate... It's undignified.

Ummmmmmmm...know what I mean?

Alan,
I told you a Bzillion times not to exagerate.
You can wear all the goucho's you want though, not that there's anything wrong with that!

I obviously have duped a few into thinking that I am not as big of a Hack as I really am. You can contact Customer Service and get replacement epaulets. Inlaying them would be a big undertaking though.

Actually Stuart had two of them he bought at the same time. I bought the first one, but he put the second one up in his "grand sale" post when he was looking to finance the Martin he bought.

I tried a bloody gorgeous 1967 O-16NY last weekend, it was something else!

Hey Y'all watch what I do to the newbie...

Alan,

Did you ever see what the 2006C was *supposed* to look like?

Oh, BTW I believe Al still has a couple of 14 fretters....
