They've been saying that for years, yet, Mac viruses are rare. Maybe because Mac people are such nice people they wouldn't do such nasty things. Good one Mike, welcome to the club and check out GarageBand - you'll have fun.

Well, I have the iPhone and a PC...ga-ga..yes, but I am that way about almost all new technology. I had a Mac 2 years ago, yet let my son get it from me. Deriving a living from PC's made a full-time switch nearly impossible.

Mike, you will love the Mac! With your creative abilities and musical talent it will inspire you and serve you well.

Guess that says alot about letting MY Mac go.

Enjoy Buddy!

Whatever works best for you.

My PC does everything I want it to and crashes maybe once every 3-4 months. I can live with that in exchange for flexibility and freedom of choice when it comes to peripherals.

Macs rule - when Jobs is running Apple. Hopefully his next successors will do a better job than his previous ones.

Yep, I line up on the Mac side, too. It's a lot like playing roundbacks, once you try them, you wonder why you ever bothered with the dark side…

Welcome to the dark side Mike.

And no, you can't have the MOTU back.

[Edit; Wow, that's scary. At exactly the same time, we were writing "the dark side"]

Yes, I noticed that also. There was a significantly longer-than-usual delay to be "returned to the post." I think we caused a disturbance in the force…

iMac arrived today...WOW!
This is one sweet machine...I was up and running in just a minute (literally) and this thing is amazing...The built in "Airport" found my home wireless network and connected in seconds...The keyboard is the most comfortable and fastest I've ever used...and the seller loaded it with iWork, iLife, MSoft Office for Mac, Adobe suite w/Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc...
Just a Apogee to add w/Logic Express and
DAW, here I come!
The display is awesome! I got a wireless mighty mouse as well as a wired one...
Also got an iPod 8 gig freebee: brand new...I've loaded pic's and mp3's and still have only filled 2/3rd's of it...
What a cool package...and the tech at the Apple store fixed my PC at the same time...Seems Trend Micro's firewall is too powerful and slows everything down...he suggested a better way to go in that direction.
So. I will probably use the PC for the Job and the Mac for music creation and recording...
Cool!!!

Like I said, perfect for my DAW...I'll use the PC for Word doc's...

Why would you use the PC for Word docs when you have the Office Suite on your Mac. Word runs better on the Mac.

I find these conversations so odd.

You won't find a true professional that will make a blanket statement that either a PC or MAC is "better" cause it's as subjective as who's the best guitar player, or what is the best guitar.

It's all about what you need to do. Plain and simple. Both have their moments. My collegue on several projects and an avid long-time MAC user is now on WEEK TWO of trying to get his BRAND NEW MAC to work properly. Of course you hear more about bad PC's cause there are at least 100 times more of them at this point.

Get the right tool for the right job, ask a professional. Some of the garbage from the garage mechanics I have seen here is disgusting. Do really care that little about your "friends" to give shade tree advice when there are professionals here who can give real advise.

Sorry.. don't mean to rant. It's the same on most public forums. People listen to the advise the like the best, not necessarily the best advice... or at least from the best sources. I never understood this.

Ove seen guitars ruined, people wasting hours and hours trying to get computers to work, but please continue. Really. It's a great source of entertainment.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

I don't know about 100 times. Sales data for 2008 was less than 10 times (88.3% WIN, 10.2% MAC OS, 0.5% others). Granted in earlier years it was more skewed towards WIN as over the years they have gradually decreased market share.

I agree with Miles. It's a stupid discussion. Use what makes you overly thrilled, immensely happy and jumping for joy. That's sure as hell what I do. If people poke fun at you, take solace in the fact that you're right, they're wrong, end of story.

Mac hardware and software IS more expensive. If your goal is to assemble a low to moderate budget system with access to lots of cheap software you are not Apples target market. CLICK.

Btw, that would be a ONE BUTTON MOUSE CLICK
