Well, I've got them both, and they both are IMHO, the best sounding O's I've had. If I had to pick the one winner between them, I couldn't. I think the Josh has a little more ring to it, but the wider neck isn't for everybody.

Choice is personal preference. I had both of them and it's a toss up. They don't "quite" have the sound of the originals which I also have, but it's close.

They're different animals. Different bowl material and depth, different top bracing, etc. It becomes personal preferences to compare them.

1778T is an older USA model? Older? What does that make my GC DB? Ancient?

The older ones have more volume, are more dynamic, have better tone. . . shall I go on?

(I'm a big fan of the sound of the old Shiny Bowls.)

Personal preference is the key here. I know a lot of people here like the t series, and for the $ they are good, but to me it's not in the same league as the reissues.

Gee, they only made the Re-Issues in 2006...
They have barely had time for the top wood to get good yet.

Since I do not have a Josh White, I could not compare it... But I do have a six-year-old 1778T.
Since OL asked, I dug-out the old T... (I wanna say that I LOVE my T)
My K-1111 is basically new, so the top hasn't opened-up full, but the 1778T has...

The K-1111 sounds fuller, louder and clearer. On pure acoustic tone... K-1111RI definitely wins.
(I wanna apologize to my trusty T... :( )

[and I paid Less for my K-1111 than I did for my used 1778T! :p ]

important distinction here, the newer usa built T's are totally different guitars - bracing, bowl material, neck profile, electronics - I like em both but I wanted to compare the older T to the re-issues ....

Glad you're liking your K1111, OMA. It shows me you have good taste. You got a steal on a great guitar.

Yes, the K1111 is a great sounding and looking guitar, as is the Josh. Too bad they didn't keep making them so more people could enjoy them. I really like the old Kluson tuners look and the rosette. There's something about the three plank top that really makes them sound better than the run of the mill Balladeers. And OMA, you did steal that one...... Guitar Thief!
