Idiot that I am, I figured that the Reef was in Seattle or someplace, so I went in and asked. It's a restaurant/bar that I had walked past a thousand times, but don't remember being in it since it had that name. So, I'll just walk a block from the office tonight and go and have dinner and listen to Adrian. $10. Dinner and drinks will be extra. I love this place. I'm surprised dweezil didn't let me know Adrian was coming. I almost missed it.

I've found his DVDs aren't the best way into his "world". Just listen and enjoy a master at work. OK he is not as explosive as he was when he was younger, but who is? I'm sitting here learning "Last Track". Probably one of his easiest pieces and still difficult enough to keep me amused.

Boise has gone downhill since he was here last. The parking meters are good till 6:00. His wife didn't make the trip. He replaced her with a GPS. And so on. I sat next to a guy who had driven 7 hours from Butte, Montana. I walked a block. Hope he comes back next year.

After the show, someone asked Adrian if he was coming back next year and he said he would "if they'll have me. The turnout wasn't too good." There weren't many people there. I was told that last year they had it at a bigger venue and it was packed.

To get people out to see them, the venue has to get to the right target market. While they are superstars within their area of expertise, many in the general public have never heard of them (how many of you guys knew who Buster B Jones was before there was a thread on his death? Yet, he was a great great picker, easily on par with Legg). About 9 years ago, I saw Lawrence Juber and Preston Reed both performing at a small guitar store/venue with maybe 35 people in the audience. You play for who'll come out and listen.......

The acoustics suck to start with, people stand up so you can't see and then talk or yell so you can't hear, and ticket prices are crazy. The little "coffee shop" things are great with me. I just hope these guys can continue to afford to do them. Neither Adrian Legg, Richard Thompson nor Preston Reed were promoted very well here, and I stumbled upon each of their concerts on the day they were held. I heard of Buster B Jones from intstructional videos, but I probably was looking at those because of some other thread on this board. This board is the source of most all my guitar knowledge.
