Anyone use Gotoh tuners, or know of a good supplier for exotic wood replacement buttons for them? I'm really looking at either Koa or Macassar ebony, depending on how they look.

I've checked LMI & ebay, and found some interesting stuff, but just not totally sold yet on anything specific.

I have Gotoh-compatible Ebony and flamed koa buttons in both full-size and mini. Also have American Black Walnut, Madagascan Rosewood, faux tortoiseshell and grained ivoroid.

Contact Paul Templeman.

His custom buttons are sized for Schaller/Ping but you can use them on Gotoh. I have them on numerous Takamine guitars with Gotoh's. The Gotoh shaft is slightly smaller than the schaller so you use teflon tape or an octave G string to wedge it tight.

A shim isn't absolutey necessary. It improves the feel somewhat but they'll still work on the Gotoh shafts without it.

Don't fell dumb, Andrew. But you definitely should get a set of koa tuner knobs for your Tacoma. Have Trader Jim send you a picture of his.
