Much to my regret I had to give a member a vacation today. I really did not want to but I felt I had no choice. (I will also add that Miles, in my opinion did not handle the situation well either)

So why a vacation? If I can make this PERFECTLY clear. NO POLITICS.

why no politics? this is a guitar board, not a political board, not a gun board, not a democratic or republican or independent board, not a religious right board, or catholic or jewish or muslim or wiccan board it is a guitar board.

The rules are simple. Post about one of these subjects in a manner that supports an "adjenda" and you get a vacation. NO exceptions.

I am not a lawyer. I am just an idiot that sells gear for a living. I did aspire to go to law school at one point and majored in political science so I know a hell of a lot more about politics than I care to share. The point is I don't use this message board as a sounding board and will not.

edited to add. One of the easiest ways to get a vacation is to post. words to the effect of "this may get me a vacation" or "I may get a vacation" or ultimately "I don't care if this gets me a vacation". If you post that you're gone because to me that shows that you had the foresight to think about what you were posting and to know that it was not appropriate and DID NOT BELONG HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I know that we are in hard times here. It is apparent that the world economy is faltering. I can tell you from personal experience that my own business has been affected. I am not always pleased with what I read here on the board but I know that I can't control everything. But I can control the NO POLITICS rule and I will

Now if you need some gear please contact me.

Actually, I was wondering if I should make plans for a tour this year? Any news?*

*I know you'd post any information the moment you hear, but I can't help myself from asking. Sorry.

I haven't a clue what happened, but I think the above sentiment greatly speaks to someone's integrity. It takes a fair and level head to even attempt to avoid playing favorites. I hate it when I have to call the ball sometimes, so I feel for someone when they have to and appreciate it when they do. Hopefully there are no hard feelings.

I think one of the un-written rules is.... don't ask about the tour. If it's going to happen, we'll be the first to know.

No politics/no religion is what makes this forum such a fun place to hang out.

Al and Miles let us get off onto some crazy tangents without much supervision so the really simple rules should not be hard to follow.

Zero Tolerance is a good thing. Takes away all the gray areas.

Thanks guys for making the sometimes difficult decisions that keep this forum the fun place that it remains.

While I completely agree with the rules and appreciate the difficult task that the moderators have of "policing" this site, I also hope that there are no hard feeling towards "friends" that make a mistake. :)

I think it is commendable for Al to stand by a position that is very clearly spelled out in the rules of posting on this board. I also agree completely with Stephent that this is what makes this board fun, and I agree with BT on holding no hard feelings. It's done and when they are back, it should be forgotten. I don't agree with Slipkid that one shouldn't ask a question that is guitar related. Anyone on this board should feel that they can ask a question that is guitar related without feeling the risk of reproach by anyone. Finally, I appreciate the fact that this board says it has "monitors," and, in fact, does. There are a lot of boards out there on many different topics that say they have monitors, but in fact, don't. Those boards become snake pits for those who just want to vent on what unsettles them for the moment. It's a good, comfortable place here, and a major reason for that is because it is focused and kept on track.

I suspect Slipkid was being a bit sarcastic. Either that or he's feeling sorry for Al. Jerking Al's chain about the factory tour was one of the traditions here that was fun for everyone, except maybe for Al, until the Fender purchase and we didn't have a tour last year. Then we all were disappointed.

Right on the second point.
Poor ol' Al.

Again, this is a part of my learning process. I guess after I've been around here long enough, I'll know when someone's post is "tongue in cheek," so I won't put "foot in mouth" Now, I'll get my "head out of my a** and Apologize to Slip, for the misinterpretation. Man, it's a steep learning curve here!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah.. That's what all the new guys say. That is until they've hung around enough to know better.
