Location: Budd Lake, NJ | My son-in-law has a cutaway Balladeer that's in the 10 years old range and has only been played about twice--by me, for the grandgirls.
When I took it out of the case last week, the rosette had detached itself almost all the way around; the only places the glue is still holding is just on either side of the neck.
What's the best procedure for reattaching it? My son-in-law is pretty good with repairs about the house; I just need to know what to get so he can reglue it.
Thanks for the help,

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Hi Karen, You need to get all of the old glue off. Glue doesn't stick to dried glue. You need to be REALLY careful trying to get it off of the rosette though, or you'll take the design off too. You may need to order a new one from Mother. |

Location: Scotland | Nope. To get the old glue off you'll need to remove the rosette, then you really will make a mess.
Get a syringe and some Cyano. Get the glue in there where the rosette is loose and clamp it up with clothes pegs, or if you can't get in there with clamps use duct tape or something. Have some Acetone ready to clean up any glue that spills out when you clamp it. Leave it for an hour or so. Job done. |

I was figuring that I'd be taking the strings off, anyway; I don't think they've ever been changed. (And since I will most likely be the one playing it, she'll get ones I like.)
I will give the instructions to my son-in-law and leave it to him.
