Last week I bought a 1969 1115-4 in freakin' superb condition except for the standard issue top crack. It's humidifying right now and the crack is closing up nicely.. maybe in a few days I can cleat it.

Last night I bought an old Academy KA14:

Academy

I didn't think roundbacks were represented enough in my house so I had quotas to fill.

Nice! $61 for the Academy! But, 90 bucks for shipping?!?! What'd the guy do...ship it in a platinum coffin? Man!

I had contacted the seller about shipping. He told me he'd ship any way I wanted. The seller doesn't have much control over that shipping calculator and eBay doesn't understand large boxes, so most "Parcel Post" qoutes for anything bigger than a bread box usually are in many cases not accurate.

Too bad I nap'd through the end of the auction :(

Yes, I mentioned the high shipping and we came to terms afterwards. Shame the calculator isn't accurate sometimes, they might have gotten more bids.

Still no good method of dating Applause/Academys, huh? I wish the serial numbers were datable like regular Ovations. I also have a 70s Moosup Applause and it bugs me I don't know the year!
