When I got back from a business trip this evening (West Virginia... no sign of Jason), I found my '05 Collectors waiting for me.

This is the one I found with the bridge popped off when I returned from another trip. I brought it up to the factory when I brought Jerome's guitar up. The guitar looks as good as new - you could not tell that anything happened to it, or that it was repaired.

They were VERY good to me and I want to thank them again publicly for a job well done.

Nice, Mike! I'm sure the folks at the Mothership like to hear it, too.

Any reason for why the bridge popped off? Any suggestions for keeping it from happening again? Stuff like that scares me.

Serge - I have to think that it was a lack of humidity and maybe a weak bond to begin with. I was away for almost two weeks and didn't get to keep refilling the humidifier. It was a cold couple of weeks, so the heat was on alot. We have forced air heat, which I imagine is the worst kind for low humidity. Although it only gets down to 30%. It was an EXTREMELY clean break and there was hardly any wood still attached to the bridge.

I am being super diligent about keeping the humidifier going now. I have no plans on keeping the guitars in cases, so I have to be. I also want to get another Tak one of these days, so I better get used to it!

Mike, all I an say is - thank God for Florida, I don't have to worry about that crap! Even with the heat on in the winter during a cold snap the humidity never drops below 45% inside the house. Glad it worked out well.

A new Tak, huh? My guitar instructor signed and endorsement deal with Tak and just got a TNV460SC out of it, I got to see it and play it tonight - SWEET! That just might be my next guitar.

I was sorry that I missed out on Dave's bluegrass, but I just couldn't make it happen. One of these days...

Serge, I have a TNV460SC. Yes very nice guitar, but honestly the LTD 2009 costs about $1000. less and I think sounds better.

Mike, glad they fixed up your guitar.

G8r, all I can say is that, having heard you play, your instructor is a very talented person and obviously deserves a freebie

Richard - thanks for the compliment, but I'm undeserving. My teacher, tho, is indeed on a very high plane. He's close friends with Matt Smith, and is equally talented (they're putting on a show/mini clinic for his college students when Matt comes to FL next month). He's a professor of music at the same college where my wife teaches, an instructor for National Guitar Workshop, a regular session musician in Nashville and LA, last year he was asked to tour for a bit with a pretty famous country singer when their regular guitarist fell ill, and he has his own band that plays around the state. This guy can do it all, from jazz to C&W to bluegrass to folk fingerstyle to straight up rock & roll shredding. I'm really lucky I hooked up with him. Thanks again, Matt!

Sorry about the thread hijack, Mike! Now back to your regular programming.

Three cheers for JB, KK & the rest of the magicians in CT!

Must've been a bad batch of glue. One of my braces popped off and she went back across the Pacific and across the lower 48 to get some TLC from mother. I also got the neck reset.

What a great guitar. I played mine at the Aussie OFC at Richard's and I reckon it held its own against some nice Adamii.

Interesting that your glue failed too. What number was yours Mike?

Well... when we opened the case, they kind of looked at it and went "huh". I think that they see or have seen so many strange gits come and go that it just didn't have the same "wow" factor that most of us have.

From what I can gather, they can do alot of what Jerome wants, but not all of it. Either way, I'm sure it's going to be a beauty when it is done.

Muz - not sure. I'll check it when I get home again tomorrow. I was able to play it last night for a little while - what a joy. Of course they set it up correctly and it plays great. I do like the contour bowl. It's probably the only "O" that I don't have to have a strap on it to play.
