Location: Mid-Atlantic | This issue is not so much 'IDing' the model as it is why there is no information about this model to be found. Here is the info and story: Its an Elite. The Label on the inside indicates 1868LX Elite LX. Made in Connecticut.
Its a super shollow body and the finish is like a classic sunburst (not sure what Ovation calls it). Has an OP-Pro module. I bought it new round 2005 give or take a year. Spent about $800 I think. Can't find anything searching Ovation web site or researching the web. Its my opinion/guess that this guitar was only made available to Non-US Markets but somehow a few never left the country or found their way back. But why no mention of it all on the web is a mystery.
Does anybody know anything about this? See, I may be selling it, want a custom legend. Should I guess that the value is approx that of a 1778 Elite LX ? Its all I have to go on at this point. I will try to contact the store I bought it, I doubt anyone will know anything. I think I tried this before. |

Location: SoCal | I think that it was made only for the overseas market. When the LX models came out, we were told, at a factory tour, that the supershallow bowls were not going to be sold in the U.S., only over seas. That lasted about 2 years and then ssb LX's were being sold in the U.S. 2005 would have been about the 2nd year of LX production.... |

Location: Mid-Atlantic | well. I knew I went here for a reason. thanks. since the ovation database only goes up to 2005 and the fact that they were made over a 3 year run - hence the lack of info..
But its still so odd that doing various google searches brings up nothing. you would think this would turn up somewhere. |
