Hi
I just posted a query about the sound of Adamas guitars, and it was answered well. But before I go after one on eBay, I still have some confusion on one point. Nut width ? The eBay ad says it is 1 7/8 in one place, then in another place it states that the nut width is 1 11/16

I Googled "Adamas 2080", and also could not find a consistent number for the nut width. (I am after a 1 7/8 nut width, which is the width of my 6774, and I prefer this)

I hope that they didnt make them with different sizes nut width

From the horses mouth:

Adamas base models

and this:

Ovation Adamas 2080

it is 1 11/16" in the stock configuration, but you can order other nut widths via the Adamas Custom Shop. I would think the label would read "2080 custom" or something in that case? I'm sure someone here has one and could verify how it is identified on the label. If I had to guess, I'd assume it was a 1 11/16" unless you had good reason to believe otherwise, since that is the "standard" width neck on that model…

that's my 2¢…

(if I had more than 2¢, I'd get a 2080 too ;) )

one more thought…

Why don't you write out exactly the specs you are looking for with your budget and contact Al? (ALPEP here on the OFC) You never know, he may have something in stock, or be able to keep an eye out for a used one for you, and with Al you will know for certain exactly what you are getting…

ok, that's 4¢, I'm over my budget…

Ask the seller through the ebay contact seller function. If they don't answer, then don't buy the guitar from them.

(off topic -- i lived in Corvallis for about 25 years. Nice place, and close enough you can easily make it to the next PNW OFC gathering.)

I don't know if it's the same or not, but there was a custom 2080 on eBay with a 1 7/8 nut. The seller highlighted that fact and that it was a custom order. I also noticed that when the seller cut and pasted to specs, that the standard nut width of 1 11/16 was listed there. I believe it was a wide neck for sure. But to be safe, ask the seller directly.

The only thing that bothers me about it is that the label clearly says 2080. If it had a 1 7/8" neck wouldn't it have some reference on the label or at the very least say "2080 custom"?

Not necessarily.
I have two custom order O's with mixed features.
Regular label and base model designation on both.
These weren't recent orders though. The practice may be different these days.
A custom label would have been welcome on my two... metal/foil even better. :)

Your right.
I just looked at my custom 2080D's and neither the 6 or the 12 says anything other than 2080.

Here's a 2080 with 1 7/8 neck on craigslist. If it's really a wide-neck custom order the prize is a steal.
