GAS seems to be a huge problem with many forum members. Fortunately I have so far avoided it, but the other disease to be wary of is AAS (accessory acquisition syndrom). This involves amps, pedals, and other gear that you feel you must have to make you a more complete player. I am, sad to say, falling victim to that particular illness.

But the economy looks like it may step in and provide everyone with free Gas-X, a proven remedy for all GAS symtoms.

Welcome to the Ovation Hive Mind, ladylaw!

BTW, I believe GAS originally was for Gear Acquisition Syndrome. So we may have all the bases covered with GAS!

Greetings Milady,

GAS can have numerous side-effects, not all of them unpleasant.

When I joined the OFC, I only owned one Ovation, my trusty Custom Balladeer 12-string. Here he is, 20+ years old and still stomping all over almost every 12-string he meets.

Somewhere along the way, I must have innocently engaged one of the more contagious OFC'ers in a seemingly harmless conversation. Now I'm "suffering" from these not-so-terribly-unsightly blemishes.

And there's more to come soon. ;)

Hopefully.

Let's be a little more accurate it stands for Gear Aquisition Syndrone, I guess on this forum perhaps Guitar Aquistion Syndrome might be more fitting or even OAS (Ovation Aquisition Syndrome) or AAS (Adamas Aquisition Syndrome). Then again there are some that suffer from OAAAS (Ovation and Adamas Aqusition Syndrome). Enough already! Welcome.

Ladylaw, it is good to see another woman on the site. Jewel's Mom and I have been outnumbered for far too long.

Another term you will see here and wonder about is SWMBO. Stands for "she who must be obeyed". Last week we were discussing what we ladies should call our insigni...I mean significant others. (Hmmm...I.O. sounds just about right, now doesn't it?) Anyway, welcome and enjoy.

"Sir" will do. Usually preceded by "yes".

Intelligent Opinion? ;)

I can live with abbreviation. (Though I don't know if I can live up to it.)

HWMBP ("He Who Must Be Pampered.") ;)

Actually, the only pampering that goes on at my house involves things that have anywhere from 5 to 12 strings.......and thanks to my affiliation here, my original one Ovation now has several "sisters." :D

I'm with Ali on this--we're really glad you've joined us. This place definitely isn't for the faint-hearted type of female-folk ('cause the guys do tend to forget that we're here sometimes), but it has taught me a ton of stuff about guitars and things relating to them.

I too find it refreshing to see there are actually some women who share a fondness for and interest in guitars (:

Jim has GSS (guitar seller syndrome). It's a good thing he doesn't have an Adamas for sale or he'd be an ASS.

Thank y'all and wow.
I'm the only one around myself that I know of who likes Ovations. I've loved them since I saw an ad in a friend's teen magazine in '68 or '69.
I also suffer from COS. (Collector of stuff)

Welcome LL,

Yes, many interesting characters here.

GAS started for me a little over 2 years ago, 8 purchases and 3 sales have left me with a handful.

Stick around, we are a fairly harmless group!

Welcome Ladylaw. When I came here I only had one, I am up to three O's (along with 3 others). It doesn't take much to get started... stopping... thats a whole different problem. :)

Welcome Lady. Though the subject matter wanders and becomes occasionally slightly risque, good humour is (almost) always intended.

....and always recommended!

I'm glad to see there's some gals here too.
There's alot of testosterone around here.
And as far as 'risque', I'm a retired cop if I haven't heard it, I've been called it!
