What difference in sound do you notice with different formulations of strings (preferably within the same brand)?

As an example, you are using Elixers: what difference in sound do you perceive when using 80/20s versus phosphor bronze.

or any brand for that matter.....80/20s vs phosbronze vs gold phosphor vs all bronze vs all steel....etc....etc

Just wondering why we pick the specific string we pick.

Based on my experience with D'addarios
For acoustic:
Stainless --- Bright and zingy, long lasting
80/20 --- Bright, less zing
PhosBronze --- Warmer, least long lasting. I guess my sweat eats them.

Overtime, all the strings mellow.

Honestly, I just play whatever's cheap or free, as long as they either Dean Markleys or D'Addarios.
