Location: Boise, Idaho | The LAV Koa is a 12 fret cutaway. I like the 12 fret setup. It seems to get the strings over the soundboard pumping out the sound a bit better. I don't have much or any need for a cutaway on a 14 fret guitar, but I play one song with a barre chord at the 10th fret and I can't do it on a 12 fret guitar, except for the LAV. |

Location: North Bend, WA | Thanks guys... Mark, I'm with you on the 12 fretters. The bridge placement is lower in relation to the soundhole, and they just plain sound better to me. I don't play a lot of songs where I need access to 12th fret or higher, but on those few I do play it sure would be nice to have a cutaway.
By the way Mark, I couldn't find the LAV Koa on Ovation's web site... Can you direct me to it?

Yes, They made one for me. Back in 2003 I ordered a cutaway 12-fret Folklore with a little extra bling
