There's only six stores still open in the US, so this won't impact everybody, but it will sure impact me. The downtown Denver store has been my "go to" store for discs for the past decade or so. I'll miss it. There won't be any retail music stores left in town other than the underground shops, so I'll have to buy my recorded music on line I guess.

What's a retail music store?
Haven't been to one in years.

What's a "disc"? The CD will be as obsolete as the Edison Phonograph pretty soon. It's all downloads man, get with it.

I don't really have a problem with buying a bunch of binary code online. It's certainhly more convenient, and maybe cheaper, but I miss reading the sleeve and owning the physical artifact, but maybe that's just an "age" thing.

The thing that is impacting the industry is that a significant proportion of consumers who aquire music digitaly don't buy it, they steal it. Sorry, they "share" it.

The other problem I have is that the current formats such as MP3 sound like shit, not even as good as CD which is acceptable at best. The entire thing is geared towards a generation who do not not know or even care how great music can sound through a good sound system rather than pissy little earbuds on their I-f**kingPods.

Don't get me started.

I'm old school and still load CDs into a multi-disk juke box, but, granted, maybe not for much longer.

We went to the same school, Brad. We now have a stereo with an MP3 dock, but don't have anything to put it in. Getting with it has never been a priority.
I think I'll stop at the Record Exchange on the way home and buy some CDs before they close.

Truth is, most of today's music I don't really want to hear all that clearly.

FLAC is the way to go if you need portable music. MP3 and its ilk suck big ones.

What was so wrong with Vinyl?
You didn't need a computer to decode it...

When I was a YOUNG child, we had a broken turntable, a safety-pin and a tube of paper.
You could play vinyl with that!
Probably weren't too good for the records* but we were kids.
