I just noticed that if change EXP Strings to
Adamas string the guitars get alot louder.

Exp strings were not old and dead.
They were by the Mothership in last couple week.

I noticed it on the Pacermaker too but as dramatic volume change.

Does even light remove lots viberation??

thoughts??

Exp's are coated, and I know there's a lot of people here that hate coated strings. I'm not a fan of the Exp's either, but I like the Elixirs. I think the gauge would make a lot of difference. Are you comparing apples to apples here as far as gauge?

Different Strings for Different rings.

If those EXP's were coated this could be a factor as well. I have found a set of #12 Martin Strings seemed to ring about the loudest and best of any on my Adamas's.To my ear...... You have to try a lot of strings and use what sounds best to your ear.

Remember, it is similiar to buying an acoustic guitar. It helps to have someone who can play do the honors while you stand in front to get a better idea of the sound from the audience view.

I've been using d'Addario Chromes .12 on mine and like them a lot. The bass strings sound more deep. I also have some .13 of the same, will try them next.

I have found the least sound loss in a coated string is the "elixer nano's". They are great if you play a lot and want to sound as good as you can without going crazy changing strings every other day. I have noticed no difference in sounds when plugged in but you do loose some of the crisp sounds with these for sure acoustically.

Yes, Al, We know. . .
You consider, the "coat" you apply to strings over several months (years?) much like, "WE" might season a CastIron pan or Wok...

I normally don't either.
Never bought them.
Never will buy now either.
Regular Adamas String will give 4 to 8 weeks of good sound.

Somebody once said,
"they sound 1/2 dead when you put them on
and 6 monthes later they still sound that way."

yes Jeff your used strings are on the way
Most coated!!

For all the people here who don't like coated strings, have you ever tried Elixir Phospher Bronze??? They don't feel coated, they have a bright sound, and they last a long time.

They don't feel anything like regular Elixir nanos or polys.

The store put a set of those on my Guild D-25 when I bought it. Sounded very twangy and did not stay in tune that well. The were replaced in 4 days.

my favorites for the past several months. i used them on the 1687-9, the collings cj and now the blueridge br-163. excellent on all accounts for me. last very long. my body chemistry and the climate here are harsh on strings.
