Meters are there for a good reason. Get the gain structure right throughout and the whole system works more efficiently and sounds better, and you won't run the risk of blowing speakers.
You made a good point about matching outputs to inputs. It's important to understand the differences between output/input impedances and whether the gear operates at mic-level or line level. |
