I would base this on the decade they were most sucsessful from your personal knowledge. Whats yours? (Note I say PERSONAL, Not the best Talent wise, The one's you enjoy(ed) listening to) 60's: Beatles, Beach boys, CCR 70's: Doobies, Allman Bros, YES (Difficult as there were sooooo many!) 80's: Police, Pretenders, Rush It now gets diffucult for me: 90's; Cranberries, Metallica even harder; Maybe Paramore, Evenesence, 3 Doors down??? (Not many to choose from IMHO)

In the 70's, Jimi, Janis, CSNY, Joni Mitchel, Jethro Tull, Alice Cooper, and Aerosmith. In the 80's, the drought started... Fleetwood Mac, Missing Persons, the Pretenders... In the 90's, I turned my radio to NPR... Went to Dead Shows til Jerry died. But there is Still Bob Seger, Melon-head, Neil Young, Springsteen, Gilmour, Willie, and all the Old Stuff for Old Farts. [And the kids all say, "Why do they call that Classic Rock? All that was done before I was born and half of those people are Dead!] BTW-- I am talking about the music from then that I listen to Then. Not music from then that I like Now. Cuz there are alot of musicians from then that I wasn't exposed to back then. I was young, y'know?

There are others, (eg James Taylor) but it took me 15 minutes to compile this lot as it is.

Blue Oyster Cult remains on the top of my list. I have favorite tunes from many other bands, but really anything by BOC will be my goto when I can't find something else. In fact there are very few other bands for which I like a whole album. Most there are just one to several tunes. While I have favorites within the BOC Catalog, I do like the entire catalog.

I'm still discovering 90's music. 00's - TransSiberian Orchestra, White Stripes There are a whole bunch of others, but none that stand out over the others.
