Since I started using the "wrap it under, twist it over" method, I have so little slack that I quit using a winder.

The electric is getting fitted with locking tuners. Nearly no slack to wind around the post. Some of the acoustics may get that treatment too if it goes well.

Ahhh The infamous "roadie-wrap". Comes up to tune in one turn and never slips.

You can get into some serious arguments about how to wrap a string around the post, second only to tuning methods.
