i agree with one of the latest comments posted on that clip. the cleartones do have a nice, "clear" but very trebly tone to them. i tried them and although they may work well for particular songs, if you are looking for lower freq warmth, stay clear of the cleartones. |

Location: Vernon CT | I personally thought the string were a lot warmer sounding. I have a Black 2077 which I thought He was playing b/4 telling us it was a 1861 Balladeer. One reason I bought the 2077 is it sounded very bright regardles of the strings. Came with D'Adarrio's and I play Elixir Nano's.
Just based on what I heard, my EAR say's stick with Elixirs, for me. MHO! |

Location: Utah | I am not a fan of coated strings (though I haven't tried Elixirs on an acoustic yet). Tried a couple of brands and found them dull and lifeless.
But the Cleartones on my 6778LX mid bowl Elite sounded 98% as good as any non-coated strings. I still prefer non-coated, but if the need arose to use a coated string I would happily buy Cleartones. |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | Interesting. The clip sounded a bit lifeless to me, though the first strings he used were WAY past their life expectancy. I usually use either EXP16's or EJ16's, or the occasional Adamas 1818 on my acoustics. I've never bonded with Elixirs, though the idea of the Cleartone intrigues me a bit. |
