Hi all. New guy here. I just traded a Tele and a pedal for a '70s 1281 Preacher in natural mahogany. Original case, too. It's in great shape - just a few nicks here and there - though someone swapped out the original pups years ago for a pair of vintage DiMarzios. Fantastic mahogany body. Tremendous sustain for a bolt-on. This is a great guitar with a killer tone. The 24 frets are a bit odd at first, but it just sounds so lovely! My son is a lefty, so I am in the process of sanding/cutting a new nut (the body shape is pretty accommodating for a sinister player, BTW). The problem is is that I am so wowed by this beast, I just may get one for myself. Either that, or I'll have to learn to play this upside down!

Welcome Hobo!

It's good to have another hobo around. (Or do you just drink with them?)

As to the Preacher, We Love Pictures!

Thanks, OMA! I just toast. I do not not taste, at least not during Lent. I will try and post a pic or two once I figure out how to do this. I have a Flickr account - how do I do this, BTW?

If you have photos on flickr...
Open the 'Full Reply Form' here...
Have Flickr open in another window...
Right click your photo and "copy image location"...
Over here click the 'image' button and paste the image location in the pop-up box.
Repeat...
Click 'Preview Post' to be sure that it worked...
Type a witty remark...
When finished hit 'Add Reply'...
There you go... So simple a Caveman can do it.

OR, you can upload photos from your computer onto the Ovation Fan Club ning site.
Then tell us about them.

Thanks! Although hanging around here, I will probably start gassing for an Ovation acoustic, which could be hazardous to my finances!

That is SWEET. One of the nicest ones I've seen. Keep it and get the kid a lefty Squire! LOL

Thanks, Oddball. I am tempted to do the lefty Standard Tele or Strat thing. But the bottom line is if he doesn't have the interest, I can always put the old nut in again.
