Location: Montana | Hi, here's the deal, my 15 yo and his buds would like to play a few songs for a father/daughter dance with a 50s theme. Poodle skirts etc. I was not a scentient being at that time and although I did watch a lot of "Happy Days" as a child the only songs I can think of are Rock Around the Clock and Splish splash. So any suggestions for songs in the genre that would appeal to teenagers and be jitterbuggable? |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Play a I-vi-IV-V chord progression underneath a medley of a half dozen or so popular melodies from that era. There's hundreds to choose from. The soundtrack from American Graffiti would be an excellent place to start. |

Location: Montana | Good stuff here, thanks. The challenge is finding stuff that appeals to teenagers. It helps if their is a connection to something they know like a movie. Last night we worked on Johnny B Goode, those guitar riffs are timeless, and there's the classic scene in Back to the Future where Michael J Fox takes off on the Chuck Berry lead and then it morphs into Van Halen type stuff. American Graffiti and the Buddy Holly Story are in our movie queue now. |
