I've tried several different kinds on my O's (I also own an 07C) and I recommend you try Webstrings' Portland Acoustic 12-53's. They are inexpensive, hold up well and sound great. If money is no object try Thomastik-Infeld's SP112's. They sounded great, to me, but at $16 a set I have trouble justifying them. I liked John Pearse strings on my Larrivees, but I haven't tried them on my O's, yet. I have gotten away from coated strings here lately. I prefer the sound (and the price) of uncoated strings. Having said that, my favorite coated strings were the Elixir Nanowebs. The main thing is to try a bunch of different strings and see what you like. It's the cheapest mod I can think of that can materially change the sound of your guitar.

How about the treble? What med lights did you use? I have the same guitar and am very interested in the changes. Bob

I took out 1 shim which got the action down to the very low end of medium ot High end of low. I have been using Elixir Nano lights on all my 6 strings for 6 years. So when I decided to try Elixir medium lights, I decided to try them on the 1778Lx. I did not have to adjust the Action. The Treble is the same as it was with the lighs as the first 3 string are the same as lights. It's the 4,5 & 6 string that are "heavier"

I think, however, that they use a different low-e and high-e if I remember correctly. I just love the tone of that guitar no matter what's on it - but always looking for that elusive "improvement". I have EXP-16s on now and they are the only ones Ive tried. The Martins die fairly quickly. The Markley's sound just as good or better, and haven't died yet. I did not like the DR Rare on the '07C.
