MS should move all roundback production to Asia and get serious about buiding VXTs in New Hartford.

Why do that??
Especcially after the years spent marketing New England Craftsmanship??

You really think enough demand for VXT to warrent that??

Plus there are many people who would not buy high end imported Ovation.
Me for one.

Just being pragmatic. Competition is stiff enough without having to compete against yourself. It's a fact that the vast majority of Ovation brand guitars sold in this world are made in Asia. Therefore it would follow that the majority of Ovation BUYERS don't seem to have a problem with non USA built Ovation guitars. All of a sudden now Balladeer is not as good of a guitar? Come on ...

As far as VXT it just seems to me like partial intercourse. They should either do it full bore or drop it. Fundamentally I think it's a solid product idea that lacks woefully in execution and marketability. VXT has no Asian counterpart so you're not competing against yourself. Get on the bandwagon full speed and make it a winner.

Other opinions may vary.

I think the VXT is still born. Ho Hum, nothing to see here, move along.

Now, i don't have a problem buying an Asian guitar at all! The two best sounding and playing acoustic guitars i own were built in Asia:

My 1985 Lowden S10C built in Japan, and my 2008 Stanford PSOM28 built in China.

I think the VXT could definitely be marketed better, and maybe a rebirth of the whole solidbody line is in order in the future. That would be a major competitor to the standard Gibson/Fender monopolies that exist now. If New Hartford moved into a hard-core electric market based on the shape, style, and feel of the VXT, they could do some serious business. Plenty of players pluck down big bucks for a Les Paul, PRS, etc. It's all in the marketing...couple of big name endorsees and they'd be set.

They already have Hamer. I don't get why they would move into the electric solid body or even semi-hollow body market.

What the heck, i'm just a quality manager and sales people drive me f'n nuts. So what do i know.
