I got BT717's LX today. What a guitar! It has such a clear sound, and is the most balanced guitar I have ever played. When I go from the third fret up to the tenth fret, the clarity of the notes is still the same. When I go from the tenth fret to an open chord, it still sounds as sweet. This guitar is made for jazz. And yet when my friend Jay played that two string old time country lead on it, it sounded like it was made for old time country. Then Jeff came in and played it for a while. I had to pry it out of his hands. He wants to buy it, and he wants it so bad I could name my price. But he's out of luck. I'll be keeping this guitar for sure. If anyone else out there is looking for a new guitar, I HIGHLY reccommend an LX. Yee-ha! Now I get to go home and plug it in to my Crate. I can tell I won't be getting any sleep tonight!

Again Alison, I'm very happy you are enjoying the guitar. I still own a 1778LX mid bowl which I love!! Picking up the 1767 forced me to move 1 and as the 2077 was the 1 that seemed to be sitting the most, not being played and appreciated, I had to say goodbye. I am very happy it stayed in the family!!!! I am sure the guitar will be "singing" in your hands!

Good for you Allison!
I've had several LX's and they've all been great guitars. My 12 string (of the moment) is a 6768LS.
I love the inlaid epi's.

Yeah, I was up pretty late last night. I just can't get over how "clear" the notes sound. I did a side by side comparison with my old black Legend. The old one is richer and bassier, but it almost sounds muddy compared to the new one. Plugged in, they can each be made to sound the same, but once again, even with chorus and a wee touch of reverb, the notes on the new one are just so clear. I know people usually describe that sound as "clean", but to me the better word is clear. Like looking through a window. The old Legend is like looking through a stained glass window, so everything you see is tinged with beautiful colors. The new one is like looking through a just Windexed window, and wearing your brand new eyeglasses at the same time. Incredibly clear.

It's the A vs X bracing debate !
I own both of them and to my ears the scalopped X sound much clearer and lauder and nicer then the A braced one. You know, just personal preference. My 0.02 euro !

Ah, congrats for your new baby !!!

It's a 1617 from 1981. I got it when I was an inspector there. It was without a doubt the best sounding Ovation that had ever crossed my path. It still is in a way. I can't say that the new one is better, but it is so different. I just love them both. If you want to see pictures of the old one, they are on the ning site. BT717 has a picture of the new one over there too.

Now you're speaking my language. This is my answer to everyone who asks me "Why do you have so many guitars?"

Congrats again!

Allison, it's a picture of you, with the new guitar, and a B.O.G. on your face that everybody wants to see....

B.O.G... Is that sorta like a S.E.G? I'll have to wait 'til the weekend when my friend with the camera comes in. I will also be doing some recording with it next month and hopefully I can post some music too.

I've been playing it all morning again, and I'm practically turning myself inside out with joy. This doesn't happen to a person that often. When I picked up the Hamer I knew I had gotten a special guitar, but it wasn't like this. The last time I had sleepless nights over a guitar was 2 1/2 years ago when I got my first Morgan Monroe Bean Blossom. I have to keep asking myself, what did I ever do in life to deserve so many fine guitars? I think I owe the world an awful lot.
