Location: Maine		I thought this was worth sharing.. 1st time I've seen it... Check the 3:00 min 6:35 and 8:50 marks for the '82.

I bought this S.Earle album when it came out and only now ever made the connection the Pogues were involved. Amazing history Youtube has been able to dig up! ..Talbot

Location: Tennessee		WOW! Talk about syncronicity! Max and I were just talking about the next song he wanted to record ... and he decided it was Johnny Come Lately. He's been working on it for the last week or so and just texted me not 10 minutes ago that he's really getting it down. Guess we'll pull out the 82C for this one. Thanks Talbot ... you made our night. :)

Here's another O sighting ... a sunburst elite being played when Steve performed Copperhead Road on Letterman.

First time I heard that song years ago I knew it was the Pogues in there - not too many bands sound like them and they have that style nailed down pretty good from growing up with the Irish music.

Location: Maine		Yes the Pogues are unique.. in 1994 I was living in Southern England doing a college work exchange program. I hadn't really ever heard of the Pogues or aknowledged them until 1994 when I saw them at an Irish festival in London England the 1994 Fleadh. Needless to say, Shane was "Pissed" & quite a sight. And so was the Scottish bloke Rodney that I was with.. I'm greatful to him for dragging me there.. It was also the first time I had seen Cristy Moore and the Saw Doc's. All some of my favorite artists now.

amazingly Youtube has a clip of that too!

Here's a verse from a Steve Earl song that seems to be influenced by the Pogues:

Location: Cork, Ireland		I love it! The Irish and other nations bring their music to North America where it feeds into the development of folk/country/popular music there. Steve Earle (among many others) brings it back home by recording with the Pogues, some of whom are Irish born, and some the children of emigrants to Britain. Great stuff!

Yeah the crossover is interesting.

Years ago someone loaned me a few Doc Watson CDs. Many of the melodies and instrumental parts of the songs were identical or very similar to music I knew to be Irish or English traditional music but the words were different having essentially been adapted into the US traditional music.
