I've been looking to pick up a Magnum I bass for awhile now, but just haven't found the right mix of price/condition on ebay. I just stumbled on this bass today, and snatched it up. I've never seen one like it. It appears to have been made for Molly Hatchet's first bass player. Is anyone familiar with this style? Is it a Magnum, or another type of Ovation? Thanks for any help!

There has to be a good story on that one.

He's on Facebook - you should shoot him a message with a picture of the bass and see what he knows about it.

I will surely be following up on this, and will post details when I have them. I think I will wait until the bass arrives to follow up, just because forwarding an ebay page might come across the wrong way. I'm not concerned about adding value to the instrument, but really do want to know what the story is behind it. I can't wait to play the thing!
