Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains		The Soul of Tone, Celebrating 60 Years of Fender Amps, by Tom Wheeler, Hal Leonard Corporation, 2007.

Hardback, 512 pages including index, color photographs on nearly every page, personal accounts from those involved in the beginning, and two CDs, one by Greg Koch demonstrating the tone capabilities of all the vintage amps, and another demonstrating Fender's modern amps by executives and pro players who helped conceive them. This is a terrific and informative reference book available on-line (mine came from Amazon) for just over half or retail.

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains		Brad, mine came today from Amazon as well...what a book...I could not put it down...awesome pic's and great commentary...I am so glad to see Mike Lewis get credit for his contributions...the cd's on the back are a wonderful addition...all in all, a well written and "must have" book...

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands		If I'm thinking of the same book, Guitar Player ran some excerpts a few years ago.

The interesting thing about the early Fender Amps and Combos was that they gave musicians the first opportunity to affordably sculpt their sound to their own taste. Truely groundbreaking. The first modern amps.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains		Yep. That is the topic of chapter 2. Before Leo's amps came along, electric guitar players had to take what was available, and there was little tone shaping whatsoever. Fender provided increasing amounts of user-controlled variation in tone and effects. He didn't invent the amplifier, but he made it successful and forever changed the face of popular music, and pretty much all of pop culture during the second half of the 20th century for that matter. Its a fascinating read.

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada		I got this book when it came out a couple of years back and it is indeed, a great read and reference source.

You are right, reading somthing like this does make you want to seek them out. I currently have a 1959 Tremolux for sale if you are interested.
