Location: Boise, Idaho | Karl met our group in Rothenburg Germany and loaned me his #47 RI so we could jam at the hotel.
Later we jammed and our tour group showed up and listened. They drank all the wine. Karl had to drive home.

Location: Germany | Thanks for the pics Mark. I had a camera with me but forgot completely to take some photos. We had a great afternoon and evening with two of the best Ovation guitars and a ton of 60s and 70s tunes. It came out that we both love and play/sing the same style of music. Mark's Porsche group seemed to like what we played and finally I made my first money with playing guitar. A jolly fellow donated the coins he had in his trousers pocket. I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do with this 1.38 Euro (roughly 2 dollars).

Location: Boise, Idaho | Who said we consumed anything? Karl had to drive back home after midnight and never touched a drop of anything but water. I had a couple of sips of red, which I don't much like, because I was getting hoarse trying to keep up with Karl and it was the only thing in front of me. The guy's a task master. Every time I paused, he'd start a new song. I think the only time we stopped playing was to see if anyone could explain "Mrs. Wagner's pies" to Karl. Oh, and to try to get him to pronounce his "v" as a v instead of a "w".
We travel across the world to visit beautiful Southern Germany and Austria. The rest of my group knows I'm nuts, so they don't ask too much about why I'm meeting a total stranger in Rothenburg with these weird guitars. I'm sure my wife filled them in. We get kicked out of the music room about 8 because it's too close to the hotel rooms, but they open the bar for us. Our group starts straggling in and joining us as we played a bunch of songs out of Karl's book of oldies. Almost everyone stayed until we shut down at midnight. The manager gave Karl a bottle to take home with him, since he didn't have anything to drink that evening. The rest of the group were all drinking wine and most were singing along. I don't think I took my eyes off Karl's music book long enough to see who was coming and going. We all had a great time. It was a highlight of a trip full of highlights. Thank you again, Karl. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | There are other coincidences, besides our mutual tastes in guitars and songs. We both have 2 daughters, although Karl's are a couple years younger. Karl also took a hiatus from guitar playing for several years after his kids were born. We have approximately the same number of guitars and he had to stop and think for awhile when SWMBO asked him how many he had. (I have a couple more than she told you I had, Karl, but I didn't correct her error.) When she asked Karl how much time he spent on the OFC board, he just laughed.
She and about 15 of our friends realized what great people share this forum. |

We communicated with other college students around the country and the world through BITNET . We got together for a few years in a row with people from all over the world.

Location: Boise, Idaho | Jerome, you may be next! We were talking about our worldwide OFC club, I told my wife we had a very famous member in France. She got all excited and is probably planning a trip right now. I'll go along if you promise to meet somewhere with an extra guitar.
We also discussed Australia, so those down under need to brace themselves. I just hope everyone has a book of oldies that I can play, but in larger print for my old eyes. Karl had a great selection of songs, but the print was a bit small and the lighting wasn't that good. I had to sit close to read it and often blocked his view. Otto's book is good, but I knew more songs in Karl's book (except the ones in German). |

There are lots of get togethers on the East Coast. You might have to do like I do and just invite yourself over. If they'll let me do it, I'm sure you'll be welcome, although I think those Easterners might be a bit more suspicious of strangers. |

Just remember there is a standing offer to save $100 by being a guitar mule for one (or more) of us.
