Before the 1581 goes to Serge (country artist) I thought I'd take a couple of pics. By the way, the 1681 may be up for sale soon. PM me if you're interested....

You broke up the brothers? Of course getting another Martin is a good enough reason.

Note the double eppis are pointing 'in'. The single eppi is an outie; a disputed 'no-no' on the OFC.

Just a 'string tube' type of OFC diversion... ;)

Anita,

Think of sending someone out on a snipe hunt. Or in the Air Force, having a new airman fetch a bucket of prop wash or maybe hundred yards of flight line. In our electronics shop, we'd send a newbie out for a fallopian tube.

BTW, you're beyond 110 posts... :D

You guys!!!!!
Being the only female patrol cop on my shift I could tell you some stories, funny ones cause the guys knew me, respected me and my engineer husband. But we all got the newbie crap.
I know I'm beyond 110 posts but your still the one (isn't that a song?) answering my questions right away.
You do know I'll be in Fort Walton Beach this weekend for my granddaughter's birthday?

If you notice, when you restring an Ovation and pull the wrapped strings through the bridge, they make a sound akin to a file or rasp on wood. This loads the grooves in the string with microscopic pieces of wood that deaden the sound of the string. Some enterprising person designed small plastic tubes that slide into the holes of the bridge so the string will pass through without touching the wood, thereby eliminating the possibility of clogging up the string with wood fragments. The result is a perfect restringing without the loss of tone.

You've GOT to be kidding! ... Microscopic pieces of wood that deadens the sound of the string? If someone is concerned about microscopic wood pieces they should try this stuff ...

You fellows scoff at string tubes, but SRV did use them. (Personally, I don't use 'em)
