I'm looking to purchase a decent low-end audio interface? I don't really care about recording multiple tracks at once... maybe mic and one instrument at most. I prefer USB2.0.

Anyone here have any suggestions? Anything you guys have tried out yourselves?

I've been looking at something like the M-Audio MobilePre or Tascam 122/144. Something in the 150ish price range.

The Lexicon Alpha is what I have and it works fine. No phantom power, though. It is quiet and has two channels. It will take instrument, mic, or line level signals.

The Line 6 Pod series gets rave reviews, and folks love the amp emulations that come with it.

If you haven't recorded before, you'll have a bit of a learning curve getting your computer up and running fast and quiet, but any of the main brand name USB interfaces will work if your computer is reasonably new (last 4 years or so).

I have a Line 6 that I'm very happy with.

I have no problems with the software side, actually. I just have no experience with interfaces and want to get a cheap one to start with.

Line 6 has two models. The more expensive one is about $125.

I found a Lexicon Lambda for 70 bucks a few minutes from my house. [= I'm definitely jumping on that.
