I came here in 2003 after buying a 2003 Celeb Collector, sent it back and bought a 1778LX sight-unseen from some lousy Salesman in NJ.

Now my wall looks like this:

I have made a lot of Friends, butchered several guitars and I am ecstatic because the Bathroom is finished and I have started to regain my Man Cave!!!

YOU ARE SICK!!!!! :D ;)

True, but you have to meet him to truly appreciate the extent of his maniacal deviancy.

In trying to define guitar snobs, I think we wandered into guitar geek territory. A whole different kettle of creatures and one of the more endearing features of this group, IMO.

Geeks know a guitars provenance by the serial number.

Snobs would not form social bonds with the paid employees of their guitar maker,
then still socialize with those who only play in the shallow end of the infatuation. ;-)

Woody is one of those guys you always want on your team. In the war movies, he's the guy that builds the machine that gets everyone out of a trap with parts from an abandoned motorcycle, a washing machine, and the units busted radio.

If your guitar collection has it's own climate controlled room; You may be a guitar snob.

If you wouldn't but an 'aged' EC Blackie because it's just so-faux; you may be a guitar snob.

If you wouldn't own a guitar that was not made with a rare species of wood,
or cost less than $7000 because "they just sound cheap; you ARE a guitar snob.

I was buying the 1861 recently and need more cash so I had to sell one of my guitars. That was the one I chose to sell after talking to people. I love the 1861 but wish I could have kept that one.

Ok, then, the "sell one you love to buy one you want" dilemma.
That I completely understand!

Me too....sadly.

Here's a link to illustrate that very dilemma:

My beloved 2002 Collector\'s is now for sale.

If you think your chosen brand of guitar is the only one worth owning, you're a guitar snob.

If you know the names of more than 7 of the people involved in making your guitar, you are a guitar geek.

And if you believe that every guitar is good for SOMETHING(even if it's just parts), and that every guitar should be made as playable as possible and go to a good home, you must be a teacher!

I must be a Geek Teacher then!

Philhixxx - "Woody is one of those guys you always want on your team. In the war movies, he's the guy that builds the machine that gets everyone out of a trap with parts ..."

That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me on the Internet, thanks man!

Remember: He's also the one in the movie who says, "I sit here and push the button, how do you think it goes off? Now you guys get out of here, my finger's itchy!"

YVW, and it's all true.

Nice one Jim :D I spend enough time in the smallest room in the house reading guitar magazines....if this was my bathroom I mightn't ever come out.

"No worries re: humidifing those!!"

What came to mind as the antithesis of that statement was the scene in Goodbye Girl where Richard Dreyfess is upset at the lingerie hanging in the bathroom...

"No, more, panties on the railing!"

Dude, you should be ashamed.

That floor looks like someone should look where they're aiming instead of at the guitars.
