It took out the 1681 in one hit, it was a clean kill. It's lighter More responsive More open voiced Better balance across the strings Ebony fretboard Better acoustic and plugged in tone (and thats with the yucky VIP!) Wide nut (which I'm growing to like) More snug And looks great! So that probably rules out the 1587 and Adamas I models too! Thank god for that. For me there is little point keeping the 1681 now. Same for the 1881 and the Elites! I just won't play them. Now been thru most of the O/A range that would suit me and settled on these as my keepers... 06C, 07C, 1680 I've still to try an 87 and the 97 is still in the US :( I am really seriously considering a custom built Adamas next.

And you know what the 1680 had laxative today :) I'm sitting here learning The Rose and The Pearl (Doug Smith) using the old faithful - 2007 Collector. It's a great guitar! The other Adamas guitars I've tried seem pretty dead tonally compared to the 1680 and I don't really want guitars for guitars sake. I want to play them, so on;y keeping the 'better' ones.

I really want them to play and improve. I appreciate that the 1681 and 1680 are very different guitars but I would play the 1680 95% of the time given the choice so cannot justify keeping the 1681, it needs to be played and enjoyed plus my funds are not limitless. I think owning a handful (say 5) Os/As is more than enough and at present it's likely that they will be: Adamas 1680 97C 06C 07C I can grow old and better with these.

(Granted, opinions will vary). Good Luck Dweezer, I hope that you can find the right combination!
