And to be completely correct the term to use would be pandemic, not epidemic. It's easy to dismiss the current media and public frenzy about Swine Flu as just "sensationalism", until you consider that the first few dozen cases of Black Plague or HIV were probably met with similar reactions. | ||

Apparently 36,000 people died of Influenza in the US last year. And we were not advised against travelling to the US then 'Swine flu' is a serious illness that can kill but so are other flu's. And we have way, way more ways to contain infectious diseases these days. Bubonic plague for example is caused by bacteria and therefore is susceptible to antibiotics. | ||
