I am new to electro acoustics and I bought my first Ovation last year, a Balladeer Special. This guitar does not have a pre amp, just a battery powered pickup. As I do not have a dedicated acoustic amplifier I have been playing the guitar through my electric guitar amplifier, a Blue Tone Pro 30M with adequate results. I have recently bought a Standard Elite LX with Op-pro preamp. With this new guitar I have to turn the volume and gain much higher on the amplifier to get the same volume as my Balladeer. The Elite sounded great through a Genz Benz acoustic amplifier when I was auditioning it and I did not notice the lack of volume I am now currently experiencing. Is this lack of volume normal or do you think I have a problem with the pre amp?
