Hi,
I just came into possesion of an Ovation Balladeer Model 1111-4. The serial # is 5869
This would indicate 1967-8, but the model #, 1111-4, would indicate 1971 - 1982 (?) I think that's about right.
I'm trying to determine the date of this guitar.
Thanks,
It's beat up, has a few laquer cracks, one top crack, seems to have been dropped. I had the neck straightened, and it plays and sounds good.

ONe more thing: The tag with the information is just a little Ovation paper tag inside, no big impression-stamped Ovation plate. Now, since it doesn't have that big silver plate inside, just the small 1.5 x 2.5 inch tag (says Ovation Instruments, New Hartford, Conn, Made in USA) could it have been sent back for repairs, and someone just put the tag on? Just sheer speculation.

NOt even sure this is of interest to anyone, but if so, I'd like to find out. Got it at a pawn shop for a song, so to speak.

Pictures would help, but the rectangular label was the norm on the early models.

Jaber,
Great find.Any Ovation from the 60's and 70's is worth keeping. The square paper tags are older guitars.

I have the same model. Bought it new in 1971. Acoustic-only (no pickup). Mine also has the paper tag so I think that was standard issue.
