I always enjoy learning something new, whether it be musically or whatever. But, geeez, the past few days has been a challenge. Sure could use a motivational OFC gathering... Nothing like meeting ol' friends and meeting new ones! Guess it's time to take a break and go do some serious fishing...

Then my golf went south again and I was bored with the same old songs. No one seems to be putting together a NW jam, but I just realized that I'll be getting together with the Colorado guys the end of this month. I better start practicing, so I don't embarass myself.

I try to work through it by playing less and doing something in an open tuning i've never tried before or don't usually work in. It keeps the curiosity and challenge up. Fishing would work too i suppose. _____ gh1

It took a new guitar and discovering all music info on the net to get me back. I am not playing more than ever, better than ever (which is still not very good :) ) For me it helps to go back to a song I had given up on and force myself to learn it. When I finally get it I find I have the jumps to get'er going again. When I start to give up on songs is when I find my desire is also waning.

I just go to the oldest few and restring them plus of course clean them up. The act of restringing them makes me want to play with renewed vigor. Sort of like viagra for guitars.

Or attending a good concert. Or signing yourself up for a new gig where they request that you learn a new song that you've never played before. (Nothing like a deadline to get you working hard.)
