Joined: January 2002 Posts: 14127 Location: 6 String Ranch | Someone here must know about these things. A guitar cord with a cut off switch in the jack, so when you unplug while still plugged in and live, it kills the signal till it's plugged back in again. Where can I get some of these? | ||

I have used "switched" cables in the past, and they worked great when new... but after a few months... I ended up cutting off the ends and putting regular ends on them. Joined: February 2008 Posts: 247 Location: Delaware | Beal, Mogami cables has this setup, there is a spring loaded collar on the instrument end that closes the circut when fully inserted into the guitar. I've had mine for over a year, works well, no issues but a bit pricey. | ||

Joined: January 2002 Posts: 14127 Location: 6 String Ranch | It's so that when I plug it in I can play a little and then switch to another guitar with out having to turn the vol to 0 or switch the amp to stand by and then back on. Just being lazy. Also want to be able to go from one guitar to another quickly, helps in the A/B tests. Also it would be good to have a cord or two at the Frisky Mermaid for Singer/songwriter night, the less that the board gets touched, the better. So, that's why. | ||

Joined: January 2006 Posts: 5881 Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I bought mine for the same reason as Beal, but then figured it was easier to simply deactivate the signal through the mute switch on the tuner pedal. If the guitar is in the stand, even for a short five minute break, it remains unplugged. | ||
