Location: Veedersburg, Indiana | Bought this off evil-bay last week and it arrived today. Burst on this is just beautiful - a reverse blueburst. Deep bowl, tone pot only, no cutaway. Unfortunely the next has pulled away from the body more than the pictures show. I'm checking with the guitar tec I use tomorrow and see what he can do. If he can't help me I guess I'll contact the mother-ship. I definitely want this to be a player!
NOTE: According to the model/serial number charts. Chart shows that the Ultra 1512 series was a Pacific-Rim model. Serial number indicates this was made in 1985 (chart shows the 1512 being made in 84). Bowl is clearly marked "Made in USA". This convinces me that the Ultra 1512 series was a made in US model. |

Location: Reisterstown, Maryland | Alan, I had one of these and I loved it. It played easy and sounded great, to me anyway. I traded it for an 1861 in January of this year. I love the 1861 but I do miss that 1512.
Enjoy it!

Location: Veedersburg, Indiana | Thanks Anita & BT. Now the bad news. I took it to my tech today and by the time I got home he had called - neck & top were actually broken! He said it looks to him like it was dropped and hit head first, thereby causeing neck to flex in an inappropriate manner causing damage. Neck is the bolt on varity, but the insides were damaged enough there is no amount of tightening that could fix it. The Good News - he can flex the neck apart enough to fill the neck joint cavity with glue, reclamp and (hopefully) have a nice rock solid joint. At the least it will be playable even it it won't ever be in factory fresh condition. It will be cheaper than sending it to the mothership. |

I ain't looking at it, but I would fabricated a wooden wedge or a really thick shim to go in there.
The Joy of the bolt-on neck system is EZ neck resets. (Plus cheap shipping to Australia)
If he just flexes the neck and squirts Elmer's into there that might limit future neck work.
But if it works it works.
[Okay further research tells me that for the price you may not be that concerned about future resets   ] |
