Hi I am the proud owner of a model 1124 4 .serial#035586. This guitar was purchased new by my uncle and came to me about a year ago.I play bass mostly but have really enjoyed playing such a great guitar.,I know its an early Ovation and a Josh White model but that's about it.If anyone has any additional info I'd love to hear it. Thanks

Hi Ken.
According to the serial number, it was built in 1974 after they had stopped building the Josh White. So I'm a bit confused.

They stopped using the Josh White name after he died in the early 70s. Same model, but changed to "Folklore". Great guitars. I used to prefer it over the FD14, maybe because it had a more traditional Ovation sound. Haven't heard an FD14 in awhile, so maybe my thought would change.

According to the "The Book," in 1972 when the Josh White was reintroduced as the Folklore, it was given the model designation 1114. Ken's is a model 1124.

An 1124 is a Country Artist

So that would be a nylon string Folklore, huh? :p

Have fun! That's why they call it "playing".

Hi Ken - does it look like any one of these? (note the different bridge shapes)

I blew it. I got sidetracked by the Josh White thing. 1124s are Country Artists. Nylon string and artist depth bowls. Deeper than the supershallows that came out in 83, but not as deep as the mid or deep bowls. I had a 73, but didn't use it much after I learned Classical Gas on it, so I sold it. If I try to give any more information from memory instead of looking it up, I'll make more mistakes and OMA will have to correct me. I'm used to it, though. Married with two daughters.
