I want to cover the lower epaulet on my 1881 with a veneer of ebony put in from the inside to block the holes without using the rubber plugs.

My favorite Adamas is my 1581 and just simply covering the lower epaulet with my hand gives such a nice lower mid thump that I'm set on doing this, but just haven't had any luck yet in finding the ebony.

If anyone else has done this or come up with another approach please tell about it.

Why does it have to be ebony? Seems like that would be much more dense than necessary. Couldn't you use a softer, lighter wood and just paint it black? Anyone know what the factory used on Preston Reed's Adamas? It doesn't have any holes in the lower bout, but they might not have cut them out to start with.

I've got some Ebony, Padauk, Bubinga, Koa and Duct Tape.
Let me know if you need a certain grain or tone.

Seems to me you'd want to keep it as light as possible, hence balsa stained/painted black would be the best bet. Not much point having a very light carbon fibre top if you then stick something heavy on it.
