Got one of the last wide neck OFCII guitars from Al on Monday and it is SENSATIONAL!

Plays like a dream and has a sound like none of the other Adamas that I own. (To be fair the only other 2080 type Adamas are my twin baritones...all the rest are 1687 style or slotheads).

The wide neck made the deal for me. It really is one sweet guitar and the Al switch is a really cool added feature.

Seriously makes me consider selling off a few of the other Adamaii that I own.

I don't know how many of these are left.
I know there is at least ONE WIDE NECK LEFT.
Not sure if there are any narrow necks left or not.

This one is really sweet and the price isn't bad at all.

Wish you'd have had it when I came to try out your #47, Stephen, but maybe I wouldn't have bought the #47. Nah. I hate to admit that the looks of a guitar seems to be a significant factor for me and I really "needed" a red one.
I have problems with barre chords on wide necks that I don't have on the narrow ones, but otherwise I don't find a significant advantage of one over the other.

Hey Stephen, I am wondering if a beefy neck doesn't improve the tone some? When my 1117 went in for a new neck, it came back with a really HEFTY new-style Legend neck. I swear it sounds better! Much more solid and stable for sure....

So I wonder if the width and depth of a neck aren't good for tone?

Greg, what have you had done to your Legend and when can we see some pics? Hadn't heard about the new neck. What precipitated that?

Actually, Moody, that was in 2005 before I had joined the OFC. It was the 1117's second Mothership trip: the first time, in 1979, when the guitar was only 5 years old, a "friend" sat on the neck at a party (guitar on bed) and cracked the headstock clean off. Mothership worked a friggin' miracle of grafting surgery. So I played it for 26 more years, but then the fingerboard was shot, the lamination on the neck showed "natural" cracks and the bridge was ground down, so that the strings were popping out. So John B. sez: "New Neck, doctor's orders!" That gave it a new lease on life. Put some electronics in it and, well, it's on the bandstand at every gig (Last Sat. Next Wed.)!

Aren't Legends great? I'm thinking that if I put electronics in my recently rebuilt Legend that I could sell everything else (keep and 12 and a nylon string) and just play it.....

Greg, for me the secret is that with a wider neck I tend to make crisper chords which makes the guitar sound better. Narrow necks I tend to "overlap" and lose a lot of the ringing and sustain.

Dob, take some pictures of your Legend showing the neck, electronics and in general. I'd like to see it....

That would be the problem with that plan. Sometimes I pick up the Legend and think it's the best sound ever and sometimes I think that about the 87C. I'm lucky to have both....

After putting this aside for a few days, I picked it up again last night and played it for about an hour.

Still LOVE the way it feels and the tone is VERY WOOD like in it's qualities. To my ears it does not sound like the typical Adamas and compliments the Adamas slothead and the twin baritones very well. As a matter of fact, it reminds me A LOT of the Q's.....#8 and #10 that I have been lucky enough to play.

I do believe I will be selling both my 1687's and my 47RI before the end of the year if it continues to impress me like it has done so far.

Al can't have more than 2 or 3 of these left. If you have been on the fence you should really grab one before they are all gone.
