Location: Boise, Idaho | I had a nice phone call with him. He's a true Adamas fan, but he said he didn't like his Adamas I as well as the IIs, so he sold it. He said he didn't think it had the sustain that the IIs did. He still uses the two Adamas guitars in the picture and the one without the cutaway is his main guitar. Was an Ovation keyman and lived in Nashville for a few years. The first Ovation he played was Mac Davis' after he boldly followed Mac into his dressing room after a concert and told him he was a singer/songwriter.
We also have a North Dakota connection. We lived about 60 miles apart (which means there were about 100 people between us), but I was only there for a few years in the 60s.
I like his vocals and songs are OK. Not too country for me, but he's a flat picker and I'm not, so we'll see if we've got any other common ground to work with.
He sent me a picture of his guitars. There was a Taylor in it, but he said he got rid of it. He said that wood box guys don't give his Adamas guitars any respect. I told him that was the OFC theme. |

His show was great. 3 hours straight in a small wine bar with 60s and 70s stuff. I think I knew all the songs. He didn't stop between songs and went for an hour before a break. A lot of nice music. |
