Ok so I was getting ready for my first plugged in outing at chuch last night with the UTE. I plugged in a couple of airlocks in the large holes to see how it would sound. When I pulled the large top airlock out a piece of the epi from that side broke off. I glued it back on with super glue and with a bit of stain and oil it should cover it fine. Did anyone else ever have this happen? Should I put a bit of mineral oil on the air lock before inserting? I don't want to pull off a bigger piece that leaves me with a problem I cannot fix.

I've seen other guitars with that problem. I've even seen it happen to round hole guitars when people used feedback busters. A guy brought in a Washburn with a big chip out of the wood at the soundhole. (And was he ever mad at himself!)I am just really really careful when I take them out.

Last night I put them in the Adamas, and this morning I started playing it with coffee, thinking to myself, "What a great sounding guitar!" I had forgotten to remove the airlocks. That thing is just incredible, even with the holes plugged!

I haven't used feedback busters, but that does explain why my MEII had a small piece of epi wood missing next to one of the sound holes when I bought it used. It was relatively simple to repair, and impossible to see now, but I HAD wondered how they managed to do that in the first place…
