Wolf Papa sez -- Didn't I read somewhere that the rainforest was being bulldozed clear to make room for more profitable endeavors, and since it was illegal to sell the lumber, it was being burned ? So goodbye trees anyway .... Maybe I'm wrong, can't remember the source.

That sounds about right.
They don't harvest a lot of that wood. (Yes, they harvest some, but the primary goal is the Land)
What good is a Rosewood grove if you cannot harvest it?
You could be growing Food, make Pasture land, Golf courses, Resorts for Rich White Folks...

Good news for me? The case focuses on rosewood from Madagascar. Perhaps the USF&WS will extend their scope to ebony. I'm selling my 1981 Gibson Victory MV-X. Although the body and neck are maple, the fretboard is ebony. I may be able to promote it as a "green product", "Pre-Lacey", "made in Kalamazoo, NOT Nashville".

At the recent Martin event I attended someone asked about what the availability of guitar woods might look like 10 years from now. They said the next problem might be with mahogany. The do not foresee an issue with the popular types of spruce tops in the next 15 to 20 years.

Their new D-1 series features an laminated neck.

Oh... and don't think I've ever heard as many stove-knitter questions asked in one place.
I know that I've drifted into that territory at times but I catch myself before I get in to deep.
I so wanted to use Temp's phrase... "talking about tone is like dancing about architecture.", but didn't get the chance.

I was at the factory a couple of weeks ago. Our tour guide,(former plant manager), was asked about Brazilian Rosewood. He said it was available at an additional cost of about $25000.

The tour was great a little rushed and the museum was also nice.

Spent some time in the high end room.

Brad, The Stratabond neck is supposed to be stronger and more stable than a solid wood neck.

I'll put our chinese Masterbilt Eppi's up against anything in your line in a blindfold test, we'd win everytime. Don't even mention our J's, Songwriters, or Birds in the same breath as your plastic.

That's funny. I just did a restring on a Songwriter's here in my shop. When the guy who owns it played my Adamas he decided to sell the Gibson and buy an Adamas. Smart fellow and a very good musician by the way. Not only that but he actually has a life so he doesn't need to go trolling on the internet for his kicks.

I wonder if Ovations plastic buckets are made with illegal Iranian oil? Someone should check.

Hey Joe,

In all sincerity, if you can arrange to participate in a 'local' Ovation jam (check here often for places and times), let's do a heads up comparison with your obvious favorites. I'm/we are always open to expand my/our appreciation of the guitar genre.

Otherwise, we follow the OFC (Ovation For Consumption) rule of 'NO FEEDING OF THE TROLLS'.

Notice how trolls NEVER list a location.

I guess under the bridge below the billy goats is too clever for them to think of.

Hey Tom (or is it Bert or Bill?), it's been done several times. Here's one of them:
