Location: southeast michigan | Hi Folks, Just a short heads up and a quick question. Elderly's in Lansing, Mi. added a 1991 Collectors Model to their used inventory, the price looks good, and the photos of the guitar are very flattering. Does anybody here have any experience with this model? I already have a 1869 Custom Legend, But I'd like some input from you folks before I start pestering SWMBO. Thanx in advance |

Got a 1991C Redwood in a trade for a Viper bass..not as fragile as some said. Very nice but redwood is soft, mellow, and sexual... WHICH ISN'T BAD AT ALL.
In other words, a different flavor if ice cream...a definite player. |

Location: southeast michigan | Thanx Tony, I know my 1869 is a great guitar, in fact I,ve owned Martin's, Gibby's, Guild's, and have played a boatload of others, and I think the custom legend is as good as any of them, and for me better than most. But an extra guitar around the house is always a fun idea. SWMBO sometimes doesn't understand this ideal, by the way she doesn't see the need for me to have an additional girlfriend either. (LOL) |

I think it's because of the lack of a consistant supply. When I ran a sign business as a side bar, I used to do sandblasted redwood signs. I'd have to order the redwood and was told they had to pretty-much wait for one of the old ones to fall over before they could harvest them. |

A deep bowl would be a nice addition. Go play it and let us know what you think. Spartyville is just a short drive.
Elderly does a great job with their photos. |

Location: Tennessee | Just for clarification, the redwood guitar is the 2001 collectors. The 91C is the 25th Anniversary guitar ... spruce top, cutaway, deep bowl ... with the really cool sterling silver rosette and headstock inlay. Blue, the deep bowl will be a different sounding acoustic that your ssb CL, but playability will be real similar.
Oh, and spare guitars are a good thing. Spare girlfiends are nothing but trouble. |
