Bruce Dickinson, Geoff Tate still have some of the best pipes in Rock, but the one that still amazes me is Ozzie. The guy can barely speak, but put a mic in his hand, and he just belts out this voice as good as ever.

Also, I must add to the list Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons who I saw last week just tear it up in Seattle. My first KISS concert. I've never been a KISS fan, but the opportunity came up and I wanted to see what all the fuss was. Well.. flat out.. best concert I have ever attended. No question... Flawless, amazing... walk out with mouth open... and the only thing that really surprised me was I expected it to be louder and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't...

Voices really do change over the years, but professional training can minimize the effects of age and allow the singer to compensate in certain areas. Hitting a very hign note versus sustaining that high note is one example. Vibrato control is another. It isn't that big of a concern for pop voicing, but can be very important for a Broadway singer, and career ending for an opera singer.

Joni Mithchell is one whose voice has gotten better.

As for MY singing, well, it was never very good, but Vic is right. I know my limits and can usually work around songs that, a few years ago I wouldn't even bother trying.

Surprised no one mentioned Michael Jackson. I can't think of anyone else who went to such lengths to keep the voice he had as a kid. Wonders of modern medicine were bound to catch up to him.

What about those who speak with a British or Austrailian accent, yet loose it when they sing?
