Wow, is this ever the truth. Sitting in a high school biology class, I had pretty girls sitting at the desks on either side of me, a blonde and a brunette. I wrote out a quick "want to go out with me next Saturday night?" note and started to hand it to the blonde on my left (my preference as it was all part of the surf scene) and just as she started to take it, she blew a huge bubble from her bubble gum. I pulled back on the note and thought to myself, no freakin' way she's blowing bubbles on the new upholstery I just installed in my '57 Ford so I turned to the brunette watching all this and handed her the note. Four years later we were married.

After trying out a few guys via Craigslist Chicago, I joined OFC in Jan 2006 ISO a real comrade-in-arms. Two months later I met Jeff Burns (#2805) here and we hit the woodshed. Now we're a trio and making some progress!

I googled for Ovation GC178 (the Guitar Center model that I could not find anywhere), and up came a thread from this site regarding that model. Which by the way, answered all the questions!! I became a member immediately.

3 and 1/4 years already? Sheesh. I've had two Ovation guitars around since the late 70's, but being primarily a bassist, just never thought about networking too much until I got another in Jan. '05. Then the bass, then the latest guitar last month. Next thing you know, I'm obsessed! I don't usually say too much, but have always found the info I needed when I ask, and in general, really like it here, and even when I'm quiet, I'm here at least a few times a day, every day.

I'd have to look at my profile, but I'm going to guess I found the OFC in late spring of '04. I bought the 1868 for what I thought was a bargain and wanted info on the brand/model. Wound up here and I've been pestering Al ever since.

Ok....NOW you guys have me worried! I looked at some of the ovations in your signatures and most of you DEFINATELY have more than one ovation that you posted about when you joined....makes me wonder what I have gotten myself into. LOL!

I just joined....whatever that means.

Be very afraid. I had a couple when I joined and haven't bought a new one in almost a year, not counting the one I just bought for my daughter. I got into a bit of a compulsive buying spree for awhile.

All for less than the value of one original slothead.
The want list is still way longer than the have list. There are some really nice Ovation models out there. 05, 01 and 97 Collectors, FD14, many electrics and a bunch of Adamas models come to mind.

I'd just bought my first O (Black shallow bowl Custom Legend) but I can't for the life of me be sure how I found this place.
Was there a link from the Ovation site at one time?

I was forced to participate until the "Constant Adamas Slothead Photo Gallery Brainwashing" technique, being used at that time, turned me into an Ovation addict. Now Al helps me and many others keep up our three Adamas habit a year going.

I don't even remember my old life now.

OMG, 3 per year! I used to work with drug addicts and marveled at how they'd end up using 2 grams of heroin per day (which would probably kill a small horse). They sort of got there gradually. Since joining I've laid down some money on a second Adamas, you mean that won't be the last? Don't tell SWMBO.
